Jumping training sequence - Choose a side
Here is a fun, small space agility training sequence for you to get to know your team better!

On jump #1 and #11 you can choose which side to take the jump from. We recommend trying both sides and timing the difference to get to know more about your team and what sort of lines and handling options are best for you. This way, when you're walking a competition course, you can easily know what options are best for your team without having to think about it.
When choosing which lines to run with your dog on a course, it's best to think a few obstacles ahead. For example, choosing to approach on the left side of #1 means you'd be best off approaching #2 from the right-hand wing and slicing the jump towards #3. Whereas approaching #1 from the right makes it easier for your dog to approach #2 from the left wing and do a wrap to #3.
On jump #11 the side you choose will impact what handling technique to use on jump #10. The dog's natural line from #9 encourages a slice on jump #10, in which case it would make sense to approach #11 from the right. However, for some dogs a wrap on #10 might be faster which would mean approaching #11 from the left. One is not better than the other, it only matters what is best for your team.
Try both options and time them and then run the full sequence with the best options for your individual team.
Here are some handling techniques you could try:
- #2 - Forced Front Cross or German Turn
- #4 - Running on The Dog's Line
- #6 - Reverse Spin
- #7 - #8 Blind cross or #8 Rear Cross
- #10 - Reverse Wrap or German Turn
