Distance handling with Janita

Distance handling with Janita

15 lessons

Many handlers say that they’re not fast enough to get through some challenges presented on agility courses. So in this course, we’re going to have all handlers walking through the courses! You’ll see that by understanding the dog’s point of view, you don’t have to be fast to be able to get through different types of courses. We’ll also use many different breeds to show how we train missing skills for dogs as a part of a course.

Being able to handle your dog from a distance doesn’t necessarily mean teaching them a lot of different verbal cues. If you teach your dog a solid foundation, are consistent with the way you train and handle your dog, and learn to see the course from your dog’s point of view, your dog can already understand your handling from a distance — you might just not know it yet!
