Dorthe Kiærulff
star OneMind Dogs Instructor
As an agility handler, Dorthe loves to train with her dogs, and watch them evolve from puppy to agility dogs. She feels that her implementation of the OneMind Dogs’ principles in her handling has made it much better and given her the tools to be even better. “Especially the 3 C’s have made a difference in my handling and relationship with my dogs on the course.”
As an instructor, Dorthe loves to teach and see the progress of her students and their dogs. She teaches all levels, but her favorite is teaching foundation and seeing her students grow from inexperienced handlers to great handlers who are able to guide and support their dogs on the agility course.
“When teaching, I enjoy my students’ ‘Light bulb moments’ - when they try something new or difficult for them, and realize they were able to do it successfully.”
Dorthe believes that training has to be fun for both handlers and dogs and that is why her teaching sometimes includes funny hats and silly movements. “I love the way I can use the OneMind Dogs’ principles in my teaching as building blocks and introduce them one by one or several at the same time depending on the situation and the handler.”
Dorthe also teaches mental training as she thinks it’s a huge part of performing in competitions.
