Wendy Alexander

place North Vancouver, Canada

star OneMind Dogs Instructor

Wendy has always been passionate about viewing agility from the dog's perspective; asking what they need from us as a handler. That is what attracted Wendy to Onemind Dogs. " I feel as handlers we should do as much as possible to make things clear to our dogs. "

Wendy enjoys working with all types of handlers and dogs. She feels there is no greater satisfaction than when handlers have an "Aha" moment. She loves attention to detail when handling and looking for that perfect line!

Wendy has always had very good distance skills on her dogs but the skills became even more important when she tore her ACL and had to have knee surgery . She did not let that stop her from competing and was able to learn to handle even challenging courses from a distance. She feels these independent obstacle skills are a very big part of her success in agility even now that she is able to run more with her dogs.

Wendy has represented Canada on 5 World Teams with two different dogs and in 2017 her dog Crush won a Gold Medal in Biathalon at IFCS .

Wendy is always striving to improve her dog training knowledge and skills and has taken many courses in clicker training and dog behaviour on top of her education in agility. She feels this helps her in dealing with all different types of dogs in agility.
