star OneMind Dogs Assistant Coach
Stefanie has been competing in dog agility since she was just seven years old. At fourteen, she began teaching.
“My handling has evolved with the changes in agility/course design and the introduction of the OneMind Dogs handling system. With each dog comes a new challenge, but I believe each dog has also taught me something new. They have all challenged me to be a better handler and trainer.”
Stefanie strives to be a smooth handler. Her favorite teams to watch are the ones that make an agility course look like their dance floor. “Growing up I was a ballet dancer and I think I bring a lot of what I learned in the studio out onto the agility course,” Stefanie says.
“Over the years, agility has evolved in ways I couldn’t even dream of. Teaming up with OneMind Dogs four years ago was truly a life changing experience. I have always been very passionate about the sport, but OneMind Dogs essentially ignited the spark in me and made me fall in love with agility all over again!” “It brings me so much joy to share my love of the sport with my students. Nothing makes me happier than to see a handler and dog team having fun out on the field and to know that I played a small part in their journey.”
Stefanie’s favorite thing to teach is course analysis. “The OneMind Dogs team has changed the way I now look at an agility course and I really enjoy sharing what I have learned with my students. To see them have the same epiphany I had when they learn to look at the course from the dog’s point of view is an extremely rewarding feeling as an instructor.”
