As any handler, Jodi wants to be the best teammate for her dog. To her this means training herself more than her dog, keeping the game fun, and continuously re-evaluating what she can teach her dog to help it be successful and enjoy the game! 

Jodi sees her strengths as a handler always evolving. Training with beagles & border collies at the national level, she feels she excels in training any dog in front of her, be it a dog needing added motivation and speed, or a dog that needs support in maintaining focus while channeling its speed and desire to succeed. Her canine teammates have taught her all these things & beyond!

As an instructor Jodi’s goal for her students is to facilitate a love of working as a team. She wants her students, both dog & human, to enjoy their journey together and understand that there is always something more to learn. “I love teaching teams to grow together. I especially enjoy helping teams that  are struggling with something to make progress & gain confidence. And I love teaching puppies of course!”

As the owner & lead trainer at Kellar's Canine Academy, a UKI judge, an AKC ACT Evaluator, a Cynosport Rally judge & a therapy team evaluator, Jodi has a lot of opportunities to impact dog & handler relationships. Although competitive agility is her passion she respects the bond between each individual team & their choices to facilitate that relationship. “Agility can serve various functions for teams regardless of their own goals. I strive for my influences in the canine community to support teamwork & the canine-human bond.”
