star OneMind Dogs Assistant Coach

On course, Jean prefers to run ahead of her dog and also be able to use distance when she needs it. She loves to train and values her relationship with her dog above all things.

“I strive to be precise about mechanics and take note of the small adjustments my dog needs. My strength is my love of the sport and my positive attitude,” Jean says.

As a coach, Jean loves to share her enthusiasm for learning. “I always try to be open-minded and patient, and respect the individual qualities of every handler/dog team. I encourage students to be thorough and patient in training, to trust their dogs, and always be willing to try something new.”

Jean also wants her students to laugh a lot. “My goal is to help handlers let go of preconceived notions and find what works best for them and their dog. It’s exciting to see students and their dogs grow into a team.”

Jean is a writer by profession, commercial and creative, and the analytical and creative aspects of her work have helped her be a better student and teacher. “Because I’ve always loved sports and dogs, agility was a natural for me. I can’t imagine life without it and am grateful for all the friendships, canine and human, we've made over the years!”
