Holly Joy Burchsted

place Connecticut, United States of America

star OneMind Dogs Instructor

Holly empowers her dogs to perform their tasks independently. This way she can focus on clean execution and quickly getting to where she needs to be next. She embraces training challenges and problem solving. When she finds a technique she feels rusty with, she will practice it until she’s fluent again to execute it anywhere. “I love to look at a course and just know what the best choices are for myself and my dog.” she says.

Equipped with her patience and understanding of learning theory and dog behaviour, Holly strives to make sure every team thoroughly understands the material and can execute successfully, regardless of learning style or physical ability. She finds the way to explain and visually demonstrate the concepts until everyone understands.

Holly’s students vary greatly in age and physical ability. She wants her students to know they don't have to run fast, or even run at all, to be successful. She is always smiling and laughing when she teaches! “My joy encourages students to relax and have fun while enjoying the learning process”

Historically owning off-breeds and mixes, Holly is comfortable working with a variety of dogs to discover their motivation and nurture teamwork with their handler. Her passion for learning, agility, and the OneMindDogs method radiates through her teaching.
